SOS Support is now Vigilant IT
Our new name reflects our new focus: Vigilant IT proactively approaches IT and implements new strategies to protect your business.
2004: The Birth of SOS Support
The need for Managed IT Services was simple: customers needed a partner that was responsive. I lost track of the number of conversations I had with business owners that complained about their IT partners due to their lack of timely service. So I developed my own vision for a Managed IT services company. I would make sure my clients received the kind of service that I would expect. I never allowed missed calls or a unreturned voicemails or emails. Maintaining this high standard wasn’t easy, but we continued to maintain it. And I didn’t need to advertise SOS Support – My reputation and relationships were the best advertisements I could ever ask for. I showed my clients that we cared by listening and responding to their needs in a timely manner.
Lessons learned from the 2020 Pandemic
When “Work From Home” became mandatory, it exposed thousands of business networks. Employees were logging into their work computers remotely and at the same time ransomware was the biggest cyber threat; this was how the bad guys were making money – by gaining access to a computer or a server and locking it up, then demanding a ransom. US businesses were getting hit almost daily! I knew that SOS had to undergo a permanent shift for our clients – being reactive was no longer an option.

Network Breaches and Ransomware caused frustrations and lost revenue during the Pandemic.
The 2023 Shift
SOS Support needed to lead in what was becoming a very toxic online environment fueled by the war in Ukraine. Just because a client had 1 or more proactive services didn’t mean that they were secure. True Network Security takes layers of overlapping services and touchpoints. We were also dealing with Cyber-Compliance Issues and Cyber Insurance premiums as a company that was growing each year. Another risk factor was Managed Service Providers like SOS Support were being targeted by Cyber Criminals. (We are proud to say that we have never been hacked, and that none of our clients have ever been compromised by doing business with us.)
A new Name and a new Focus
We knew that our new name – Vigilant IT would require a new focus on proactively approaching IT and implementing new strategies to protect our client’s businesses. By 2024 we knew we had to continue to build on the foundation we had been establishing since 2020. We engineered new MSP service plans that focus on suites of proactive tools and agents. These plans feature additional layers of protection that use a mix of human and AI technology, and are designed to predict cyber threats and protect our Partners.
Vigilant : vig·i·lant
Meaning : On the alert, as for danger or error; watchful…
What’s the same and what’s different
When I was approached about the idea of changing the company name to better reflect this new emphasis, my jaw dropped and I laughed out loud. “What about 20 years of brand awareness and web authority?”… “This is my baby….” But the more I considered it, the more this became a YES! The primary thing that is different is we want our clients to know that our #1 priority is proactive I.T. support. We monitor every application on every computer for potential issues that could get hacked. But one thing remains the same… Our team! Our focus continues to Vigilant IT being the absolute best Managed Services Provider to Businesses of all shapes and sizes.
What do our clients need to know?
Nothing! Nothing is changing as far as service delivery. We want what’s best for our partners. From a business standpoint, this is less about a “legal/entity name change” and more about a “branding and image” upgrade!
